Returning Player Profile
C Wallace Bates (SR)
Wallace was recruited as the 47th ranked C in his
class and the expectations for him were that he was likely going to be a player
that would be a great contributor by the time his career was completed, but
there was no telling when exactly his skills would get to that level.
As you can see from his career statistics so far, he saw a
pretty consistent role on the team his first two seasons averaging
approximately 15 minutes per game while scoring about 3 pts per contest. However last season that role got a shot of
steroids as he started every game for the team and upped his scoring average to
7.5 per game and chipping in with over 6.5 rebounds as well. The hope is that he is able to utilize his
extreme talent on the defensive side of the court as well as in the post to
really dominate at both ends of the floor this season. I’d look for Wallace to be the leader of this
team through and through.
His attributes coming in were really nothing special, only
really had room to grow in the post but luckily we were able to squeeze a good
amount out of his athleticism before it hit it’s peak (where it is now at
83). Also having, or being right near,
100 in both defense and low post really is impressive and hopefully it
manifests itself this year on the score sheet.
