Here is another top-300 national SG who is within striking
distance of campus. He would likely have
been my #1 choice, and first recruiting profile that I did if it wasn’t for his
relatively low Athleticism and Speed ratings.
I mean he could eventually be an 80 or even 90 defensive rated player
with 80s in perimeter shooting and ball handling but my concern is his ability
to get by, or stay in front, of more athletic and faster players at the tip top
of D1 basketball.
With the roster shaping up the way it is, it is very likely
that we’ll need to sign at least 2, if not 3, guards with this class so the likelihood
that Norman ends up a Sun Devil is probably pretty likely. I think a class that featured both him and
William Floyd would be a fine one. The
nice thing about Norman is that he likely could come in and play some minutes
as a true freshman, leaving that single redshirt spot open for Floyd who’s
potentials will see a much greater benefit from the extra year in school.
All-in-all, I think Norman likely ends up spending his
career at ASU and tops out as a rotation SG by his junior and senior years. But
someone who can be counted on to score points in bunches with his ability to
shoot and get to the rim with his ball handling skills.
