Panguitch HS in Panguitch, UT (300 miles from campus)
Roland is the Mr. Basketball out of the state of Utah and
will be one of the biggest fishes that I cast my net for this recruiting
season. If he signed with us, he would
come in and immediately contribute which is saying a lot since we do return a
handful of big men from a team that made it to the 2nd round of the
National Tournament.
Mr. Adams already has top of the line athleticism,
rebounding, defense, and shot blocking skills.
He’ll never be a total beast on the low block, but a lack of offense
hasn’t always hurt a player at the next level. Look at the career Ben Wallace
had and even Dwight Howard has built himself an extremely lucrative career on
the back of a top-notch defensive ability and middling offensive skills.
As I stated, Roland would come in and immediately push for a
starting position on this team and if not start would see first rotation
minutes as the likely first man off the bench for either big man spot.
He is right at the edge of our geographical limit that I
like to stretch to for top flight talent, but if everything happens to crumble
just the right way, we could eventually see him in a burgundy and gold jersey.
In a perfect world he would team up with Ricky Pascoe and
form a dominant duo who would run roughshod through the Pac10 for a couple
seasons before they both go on to experience the bright lights that the NBA has
to offer.
It won’t be too long before I recruit my first NBA draftee,
I just need to take a chance to nabbing one of these guys I didn’t think I’d be
able to get. Maybe Roland is that guy… Or maybe not! Only time will tell.
