Back to another big man target for us despite our glaring
need at the guard positions as a result of just taking what the recruit
generation tool has provided for us.
Ricky Pascoe would be the crown jewel of our recruiting class and would easily
rank as the highest rated recruit I have ever brought in. I’m trying not to get too high on this guy
because I know that I won’t be the only one interested and our in-state rival
will have the inside track and a much better chance at landing him. However if Arizona (and the other Pac 10
heavy hitters) decides to pass on Ricky and allow him to fall to us, it would
be a coup.
Ricky is a shoe-in to eventually leave early to turn pro. He
should be a 100/95/100/100/70 (Ath/Reb/Def/SB/Low Post) player by the time he
is probably a junior and would almost assuredly be a first round pick in the
NBA Draft before his senior year. It
will be interesting, no matter where he ends up, to see just how his career
plays out. **I may have to start keeping
a spreadsheet on some of these sort of guys who may be out of our league but
guys we can keep an eye on and check in on as their careers progress**
All this being said, it’s really a game of just trying to
keep our fingers crossed and see how the landscape looks once all the dust has
settled. Might we be in a position to nab Ricky and keep him right close to
home? Possibly! Is it likely that all the events play out that way? Nope! However,
having a player of his caliber living in the same city as campus, it would be
absurd to not at least take a run at him.
Let’s see what the future holds with this eventual NBA player.
