Returning Player Series - Jeremy Alexander

Returning Player Profile

PF Jeremy Alexander (SO)

Jeremy was one of the highly regarded recruits to come on campus this past off-season as the #34 PF in his class. Upon arriving, Jeremy wasn’t in “danger” of receiving the redshirt so it was known that he would be burning up a year of eligibility so we tried to get as much use out of him as we could while making sure we didn’t ask too much of him as a true freshman.

Jeremy ended up playing about 5 minutes per game while averaging nothing remarkable.  He was mainly used in end of game situations when the outcome was no longer in question.  Looking at his ratings and where he could eventually be, I think Jeremy’s days as being a “mop-up minutes” type of guy are probably now behind him.  He should be looking at ratings in the 85/90/75 range (Ath/Reb/Def) possibly by the end of his Sophomore season.  Those will be good enough to see major minutes as likely the backup PF/C. If we’re able to squeeze a bit more out of his LP stat it would be ideal.  Going forward we probably also need to focus a bit on his perimeter shooting and maybe develop him as an outside threat since he has the ability to do that for us.

I think it’s safe to say that Jeremy Alexander is never going to be an NBA PF nor is he going to be on any all-american teams while here at Arizona State. However I think it is safe to assume that he could be a solid contributor on a perennial National Tournament team and I think that’s the future he has in store for himself. At least I surely intend for that to be the case as we move forward.
